Today, in my little corner of the world, the weather is unusually great. It’s on days like this that I find it easier to take life and work less seriously and celebrate the small, simple pleasures.
Regardless of whether it’s sunny or rainy where you are, make sure you take time out every now and again to drop your guard, treat everything less seriously, forget about your problems and remind yourself of how far you’ve come.
You’ll always find problems and issues if you look for them, but by the same token you can always find joy and pleasure. It’s easier for me when the sun is shining, but it’s possible all the time. You just have to make the effort.
No matter how badly your PhD is going right now, you’ve got plenty to be proud of. Celebrate how far you’ve come and remind yourself of all that’s good in your small corner of the world.
Do that often enough and the problems you face won’t seem so serious after all.
Good luck!
