Some parts of the world are coming out of lockdown, whereas others have a little way to go yet.
Either situation may feel stressful. In both cases, the way you approach your PhD is likely to be different. You may have days where even the smallest thing seems overwhelming.
It’s during these overwhelming days that we’re often hardest on ourselves, where we begrudge our lack of productivity or scald ourself for not being at 100%.
When you’re finding things overwhelming be kinder to yourself. Don’t expect so much on those days and don’t set your expectations too high. But importantly, keep going. Keep up the momentum, however small. Small tasks equal small victories, which will give you a sense that no matter how overwhelming the day is, you’ve still got something accomplished.
